Why Mutual Funds Continue to be Poorly Performing Investments

Mutual funds still perform poorly. Basically, their track record is not good even when compared to the S & P 500 index. About eight out of 10 have a lower return than its corresponding index. Although a minute percentage of them are performing well, I've still haven't met a rich individual who made their fortune from mutual funds. The only people getting rich from mutual funds are those managing and selling the funds. People managing the funds get paid no matter what. Many get paid an amount primarily based on the total assets that are in the mutual fund itself.
